Bayer CropScience Ankleshwar manufacturing site celebrates its silver jubilee anniversary
Since its inception in 1983 the Bayer CropScience manufacturing site has grown consistently reaffirming its commitment to quality and global standards of production
Ankleshwar, 28 October 2009 – “Bayer CropScience is committed to the spirit of innovation that continually strives to introduce latest products and technologies beneficial to the Indian farmer. For Bayer CropScience in India, Ankleshwar is a very important manufacturing site. Since its inception in 1983, this site has been contributing significantly, in delivering high quality of products catering to international standards. Globally, Ankleshwar is one of the top ten production sites within Bayer CropScience. Apart from adherence to quality, important concerns such as environment, safety and health are given top priority at the site. State-of-the-art facilities such as an Incinerator, Pre-treatment plant and Biological treatment plant ensure these commitments,” said Dr. W Welter, Member of the Board of Management, Bayer CropScience. He was speaking at the 25th silver jubilee anniversary event of Ankleshwar site held here on Wednesday. Stephen Gerlich, Country Group Head, Bayer in India, Dr. Steffan Klatt, Head of IOP Manufacturing Asia / Pacific, Jens Hartmann, Country Head India, Head of Bayer CropScience South Asia and Bob Stanton, Head SC & IOP BCS India also participated as guests of honour on the occasion.
“As with all Bayer sites and businesses, Ankleshwar too considers sustainable development as a core principle. Over the years, Bayer in Ankleshwar has undertaken various projects to help enhance the quality of life in and around the factory site. Some of these include providing books and computers to primary schools and essential items for mid-day meals in certain schools located in the vicinity. Tree plantations and rain water harvesting are some of the key initiatives being taken up by the company to reaffirm its commitment to the safety of the environment,” said Stephan Gerlich on this occasion.
The Ankleshwar site has five active ingredient and two formulation plants, which produce products for Indian as well as global market. The site produces nearly 4000 MT of Active Ingredients and 4000 MT of formulations. In addition, three more projects for manufacturing Active Ingredients are in process of finalisation.
