Sherwin Rodrigues wins Bayer National Scrabble Championship 2011 for the fourth consecutive year
• Udayan Grover from Pune bags the second position
• Martine DeMello from Bengaluru bags the third position
Mumbai, May 29, 2011: – The Grand Finals of the Bayer National Scrabble Championship 2011 under the aegis of the Scrabble Association of India took place in, Mumbai. The tournament witnessed leading wordsmiths from across the country fighting it out for the top honours at this prestigious tournament.
Sherwin Rodrigues from Mumbai wins the Bayer National Scrabble championship for the fourth consecutive year followed by Udayan Grover from Pune. The top two winners will represent India in Poland for the World Scrabble Championship which takes place once in two years.

The ecstatic winner of the Bayer National Scrabble Championship 2011 – Sherwin Rodrigues said, “I am absolutely excited about winning this championship for the fourth consecutive year, I think it’s a great platform for likeminded people with a passion for building vocabulary to come together every year. This year the ultimate brain-teasing word game championship reached out to a huge number of participants across India, with maximum participation from Mumbai followed by Bengaluru. The youngest participant was thirteen year old and oldest being seventy year old at this championship. Professionals like Doctors, Lawyers, IAS officers, Chartered Accountants, Journalists, MBA students and housewives competed for the coveted title. There were 24 rounds in all with the first half being in Australian Draw format and the second half in the King of the Hill format. The tournament was held in Mumbai on May 27, 28 and 29, 2011.
